Town twinning in educational, social and cultural areas to meet the EU's unity needs
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION:
Ghiroda Town is a territorial administrative unit of Timis County, located near the city of Timisoara, and composed of the two villages Ghiroda and Giarmata-Vii. Together they cover an area of 3500 ha, with a population of more than 8,000 inhabitants.
It has access to an international airport, railroad and highway, thus ensuring easy transport of commodities and passengers. The mayoralty provides the majority of public services to its inhabitants. Also has a strong cultural tradition that is preserved and promoted through folk dance ensembles, church choir, glass painting classes, children theater groups, individual and team sports, football team.
The projects development in Ghiroda Town funded from non-reimbursable funds provided connecting to the network of natural gas, drinking water and sewerage. Also, the street electric network was extended, the bridge over the Bega River was rebuilt, the streets were asphalted, etc.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:
The project will bring together local European public administrations to facilitate intercultural and educational rapprochement between communities differentiated by language, culture, geographical location, local politics, etc., to know and promote the common history and values, the cultural and linguistic environment in Europe, understanding and tolerance , the Union's goal of promoting peace by contributing to understanding diversity, contributing to the development of a respectful, dynamic and multidimensional identity of the EU, intercultural learning, solidarity, civic engagement and volunteering.
The objectives and activities of the project relate to:
i) education and cultural exchanges to learn traditions, habits, good practices;
ii) organizing jointly educational, cultural and sports events;
iii) Active participation in the elimination of disparities between the village, the commune and the city, between social groups, as well as the setting of priorities and actions in the short, medium and long term so that twinning partnerships lead to the elaboration and joint implementation of local development projects and regional;
iv) regular meetings in joint meetings of local governments; v) dissemination of the results.
The target group is the citizens of the European partner communities and has the role of improving the conditions for civic and democratic participation at EU level.
Expected outcomes:
i) twinning between European communities,
ii) long-term partnership agreements.
Role / tasks of the partner organization in the project:
Participate in twinning and partnership documents and will work with other partners to identify strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and needs that will make sense of partnership and meet the need for unity, equality of opportunity and opportunities for European citizens to encouraging a sense of belonging to the EU.
